The Moonstone Initiative for Development and Growth (MIFDAG), formerly known as the Iyi Orilede Advocacy Network (IAON), is a non-profit organization established by Aishat Hussain over a decade ago. MIFDAG is founded on three key pillars:

Increasing learning and development opportunities for young people.

Promoting and preserving culture and heritage through arts, museums, and historical initiatives.

Empowering women, youth, and children to become responsible citizens through active civic engagement.

More About Us

Given the ever increasing population and constant turnover of school age children in Nigeria, with an attendant lack of social and equitable opportunities, we have decided to adopt the fourth goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, i.e., “To ensure inclusive and equitable quality education & promote lifelong learning opportunities for all,” to elevate the vast majority who feel a sense of hopelessness and cannot see the possibility of contributing to the development of their country to contribute our own quota to humanitarian and community service.

The poor state of human capital development and lack of inclusive learning opportunities in Nigeria have left no one in doubt about the urgent need for private citizen involvement.  There is a widespread recognition that leadership skills and lifelong growth opportunities are essentially required for individual progress and national development. Whereas, a large percentage of the Nigerian youth population are currently marginalised from contributing positively to their own growth and to national advancement. A major reason is the absence of access to inclusive and quality education.  My organization is passionate about building leadership capacity, promoting positive learning, and developing talent amongst school-age children in Nigeria with the aim of building a new generation of leaders and entrepreneurial minds on the African continent.

We are fostering social change by creating a deep sense of self-awareness amongst young people in schools. We support the aspirations of the very smart kids and enhance the capacity of the vulnerable students to add value to humanity. We strongly believe that this will lead to an aggregate positive transformation of society in the very near future.

According to UNESCO, over ten million children in Nigeria are out of school, with many more at risk of dropping out due to a lack of equitable opportunities. Our mission is to counsel and inspire these children to re-engage with the education system. We support academic excellence through a range of initiatives, including mentoring, motivational speaking, leadership training, and awareness programs on diverse topics, such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and rights advocacy. Additionally, we offer educational tours to technical and mechanical sites to enhance innovation skills, and visits to historic and artistic locations to foster creativity. As capacity builders, our goal is to nurture the next generation of successful and impactful leaders.
